A college football playoff?

I love college football always have. The excitement surrounding college football is a notch above that of any other sport. Families and friends are often at odds over college football.

A good example of that is the good old fashion hate between Georgia and GA Tech. A real Georgia fan will never pull for a Tech team, not even if they play the hated Gators!

It is in the blood of the Georgia fan that bleeds red and black. Tech is a despised enemy! They are the "wanna bee" of the North AVE Trade School!

That same hate is seen on the part of the Alabama an Auburn rivalry. The two teams just plain hate each other! There is nothing wrong with this hate, it is just old fashion football in the south home of the best college football in America.

With that said there is something wrong with college football in America today that needs to be corrected.

It became plainly obvious last night as I sat and watched Nebraska robed of their victory over the Texas Longhorns.

Is Texas a good football team? Sure they are, you go undefeated 13-0 you are a good football team. Are they worthy of a berth in the National Championship game?

Yes maybe! The question however is this, why not TCU, Boise State or Cincinnati? They are undefeated. Many would say they have not played a tough schedule. Should that matter?

You be the judge the last time Boise State played Okalahoma in a bowl game they shocked the college football world by beating them. Do you remember last year? Utah knocked off the number two team in the SEC Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.

The time has come in college football to put some sort of play off in place. Until that happens we will never really know who the best team in college football is.

Alabama is clearly playing like the best team in College football. Who is the worthy opponent?

Being a DAWG fan it is hard to admit that the Gators the team Alabama beat soundly might l be the 2nd best team in college football.

Could Texas or the other teams mentioned above beat the Gators in a play off? I doubt it! If a play off where in place: we very well might see, an Alabama versus Florida rematch. Who would come out on top if a play off where in place sadly will remain elusive yet another year!
