Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled!

John chapter 14 verses 1-7 has always been one of my favorite passages in the Bible. It records the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus as His disciples are at the lowest time in their lives.

Jesus has just foretold of His impending death on the Cross. He has told of one of His disciples selling Him out for thirty pieces of silver. He told Peter how that he would deny Him not one time but three times.

The disciples where heart broke and troubled at all that the Lord had told them. Many times we find ourselves in a similar situation.

The world is caving in around us the storms of life beat us down, we feel overwhelmed.

It is then that our Lord speaks to us in that still small voice that only He can do.

He comes to us and says, "Let not your heart be troubled.” Oh what sweet words of comfort these are. Only Jesus can speak these words.

An American tourist visited the 19th century Polish rabbi, Hofetz Chaim.

He was astonished to see that the rabbi's home was only a simple room filled with books, plus a table and a bench, the tourist asked, "Rabbi, where is your furniture?"
"Where is yours?" replied the rabbi.

"Mine?" asked the puzzled American. "But I'm a visitor here. I'm only passing through." "So am I," said Hofetz Chaim.

Allow me to remind you that this world is not our home and that we are just passing through.
That is what the Lord was telling His disciples.

We live in a world that does not offer the child of God much hope or encouragement.

With sin, crime and ungodliness abounding everywhere, it is easy to become discouraged, disillusioned and disappointed.

That is why it is important for us to remember where we are going! I am going to Heaven someday, Are you?

Waiting For The Shout!
